The Process
Your counselor with either the Vocational Rehabilitation Division or the Commission for the Blind will determine if you are job ready and may refer you to the HIRE System.

You will then fill out state application forms and other required paperwork. Your counselor will then send a state application (PD100), skill and limitation code documents (if applicable), and a completed and signed referral.

HRSD Recruitment will review the PD100 for state job classifications identified in the referral. The HRSD Recruitment Specialist will determine if you meet the minimum qualifications for each state job classification. HRSD Recruitment will notify you and your counselor of the state job classifications you are qualified for.

In seeking qualified applicants in open recruitments, agency personnel and hiring managers can easily access qualified individuals with disabilities through the HIRE System. Major steps in this process are:
  • You will meet with your counselor to determine the job classifications for which they believe you are qualified
  • Referral from VRD/Commission for the Blind when you are job ready and barriers to employment have been addressed
  • You and your counselor will fill out a PD100 (State Application) and required forms
  • HRSD Recruitment will review your PD100 for state job classifications identified in the referral
  • HRSD Recruitment will notify you and your counselor of the State job classifications for which you are qualified
  • Agency Personnel offices and hiring managers can access qualified applicants through the HIRE system
  • If a state agency interviews you, and it results in a good match, the job may be offered to you
